I have an account with PC Financial, so I'm sure they should be able to access it since PC is part of CIBC anyways, alright I'll have a chat with them this week! Thanks for the helps reph If money isn't an issue, go Scottrade. Very professional, amazing customer service, and margin/options are easy to come by. I think you have to have 2k or 5k to start up but once you do, its so good. I can show you the ropes if you end up going there.

General rules: You pay taxes of dividends and the capital gain (eg: the increase in share price). Look up capital gain tax. 25x100 = 2500 in taxable income edit: www.moneysense.ca/taxes/capital-gains-explained/ some info on canadian capital gain tax and some info Please correct me if I'm wrong, but in the United States, doesn't the capital gains tax apply only if you have held that particular asset for 1 whole year?

Any recommendations for a UK investor? I'm envisioning slowly building a portfolio over the mid to long term, buying and holding a couple of thousand pounds worth of mainly stocks every year. Minimal trading.
So, I need something execution-only, no inactivity fees, small percentage yearly fee, buy/sell fees can be a bit higher as I'll be doing very little of that.
Yeah, I know there are specialised comparison websites out there, but I thought I'd try here too.
